Chittagong is the second largest city and major port city of Bangladesh,has been declared as the " Commercial Capital" of the country.At present the city accommodates 3385800(census 2001)where most of the inhability is engaged in business, commerce trade and various port activities mainly.And the rest of the population are engaged in other urban/sub urban activities like government services,private services,fishing,agriculture etc.The city has the countries main seaport closely and the existence of the port has meant that over the centuries Chittagong has been a gateway to Bangladesh for traders,missionaries and invadors alive.The city's population is pre dominantly Muslim,But there are harmonic relations among the peoples irrespective of their cast and creed
