Undergraduate Program: Bachelor of Social Science(Hons) in Economics.

The program has been designed in such a way so that students are able to appreciate the nature, function, and the problem of the economy of the world in general and Bangladesh in particular.This program provides a progressive framework in which students can acquire theoretical skill in first two years and interpretative and research capability in the rest two years.It will then concentrate on the professional development of students in order to groom them fit for diverse professional as well as administrative career.

Design of the Program :

Courses are selected to enhance knowledge in the field of Economics and the syllabus on core courses aim to make the students well conversant with the different branches of economics like health,resource and environment economics,economics of portfolio investment and industrial organization.English is also given as a course so that students who are weak in English,can gain proficiency in the language.Moreover,the madium of instruction in this university is English.

Duration of the Program:

The BSS(Hons.) in Economics program extends over a period of four years divided into eight semester is of 15weeks duration. A student can take maximum 15 credit hours in each semester.The total of  120 credit hours are required for a BSS(Hons) degree.

Eligibility:

PUC admission is competitive.Minimum qualification for admission into BSS(Hons.) in Economics program is as follows:

• At least a second division or GPA 2.5 in SSC and HSC examination.

or

• GCE "O" Level five subjects with at least 10 points and "A" Level in two subjects with at least "C" grade.(Completed GCE 'O' level in five subjects & A level in two subjects with at least a GPA of 2.5 according to following scale:(A=4,B=3,C=2,D=1))

or

• Completed American High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Premier university admission test score and
• performance in the interview.

Admission test may be waived for candidates with minimum score of 1100 in SAT and at least 500 in Test Of English as a Foreign Language(TOEFL).Admission test also be waived for those who obtained GPA -5 in both SSC and HSC examination and applicants who got 4 as out of 5 in "O" level and TWO as in "A" Level examinations.
