“Management Trainee Program (MTP)” Session Held at Premier University.

A session on the “Management Trainee Program (MTP)” was organized at the central auditorium of Premier University, Dampara, under the initiative of the Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW). The session was held on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, at 3:00 PM, and was aimed at the university’s recent graduates, alumni, and final-year students. The session was conducted in collaboration with Summit Alliance Port Limited (SAPL) and Ispahani Summit Alliance Terminals Limited (ISATL).

The session was chaired by Dr. Abdur Rahim, Student Welfare Advisor of Premier University, and the Chief Guest was Professor S. M. Nasrul Quadir, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Premier University. Speakers included Mr. Md. Mahinul Haque, General Manager & Head of Operations at SAPL, and Ms. Rumi Sengupta, Head of Human Resources Department.

In his speech, Vice-Chancellor Professor S. M. Nasrul Quadir shared that he began his career in 1989 at a British company and described his professional experiences there. He praised the Management Trainee Program (MTP) and emphasized that sincere work and dedication can lead to success in one’s career.

Mr. Md. Mahinul Haque discussed the corporate career opportunities in Bangladesh’s port and logistics sector, leadership development, and the importance and benefits of the Management Trainee Program. He highlighted how students can take advantage of these opportunities and apply them effectively in their professional lives. He further emphasized that in today’s competitive corporate world, proper guidance and professional training are essential for the younger generation. He added that Summit Alliance Port Limited has always worked to develop the potential of young talents, and the MTP provides a platform to transition successfully from academic life to the corporate world.

Ms. Rumi Sengupta highlighted that logistics and port management are central to Bangladesh’s economy. She emphasized that skilled leadership and professionalism can further advance this sector. She explained that through the Management Trainee Program, young people can develop leadership and problem-solving skills, preparing them to become future corporate leaders. She also noted that entering the corporate sector requires not only academic knowledge but also mental preparedness, teamwork skills, and professional behavior. The MTP helps participants gain these skills through real-life experiences. She encouraged young talents to explore opportunities in the logistics and container depot sectors.

Dr. Abdur Rahim, Student Welfare Advisor, welcomed the attendees and stated that Premier University continuously prepares students not only academically but also for real-life challenges. He noted that the session provided students with practical insights into the corporate world and would help broaden their professional horizons.

The session concluded with a Q&A segment, during which the speakers answered students’ questions, explaining aspects of supply chain management and the purpose and objectives of recruiting through the Management Trainee Program.

Additional remarks were delivered by Mr. Tanvir Imam, Coordinator of the MTP at SAPL, and Mr. Shimul De, IT Head. During the session, both SAPL and ISATL collected CVs online from pre-registered students for the Management Trainee positions.

Faculty members from various departments, a large number of students, and the counselor from the university’s International Affairs Office and DSW, Faiza Chowdhury, attended the session.
